Historic England Research Records

Monument Number 106320

Hob Uid: 106320
Location :
County of Herefordshire
Eardisley
Grid Ref : SO3025052660
Summary : U Mound
More information : A small mound, close to Bollingham Chapel (SO 3052), which
is surmounted by a building, the upper part of which is used as
a pigeon-house, may be a tumulus, or more probably, from its
situation, a small castle mound. (Not listed by RCHM). (1)

SO 30255266: an oval shaped mound, much reduced and spread by
ploughing, measures 19.0 m in diameter NNE-SSW by 12.0 m transversely
and has a maximum height of 0.4 m. It would seem to have been too
small for a motte, and there is no local knowledge of the
mound having once supported a building.

Surveyed at 1:2500. (2)
