More information : (SO 3724 6810) Mound (NR). (1)
Mound, locally known as the Churchyard, is roughly circular with traces of a bank. It is surrounded by a dry ditch except on the N, where there is a deep gully and a stream. It is approached by a slanting causeway on the S, and on the E are traces of what may have been a small outer enclosure. The mound has a diameter of about 125ft at the top, and it rises at most about 11 1/2ft above the surrounding ditch. (2)
SO 372681. A weak ringwork, with bailey, known as The Churchyard. (3)
As described, except that the slanting causeway on the south is no longer traceable, and the outer enclosure on the east appears to be a natural ridge. This may have been used as an enclosure or bailey but no artificial features are now visible. Resurveyed at 1:2500. (4)
