More information : SO 445305 Kilpeck is an excellent example of a shrunken or migrated village site. Part of the area has been cleared of old fruit trees and put down to grass. (1-2) Visited 15.7.52. The village enclosure is marked by a bank with external ditch B-C-D, E-F-G. The section B to D is well preserved. The corneer F is much flattened, though still clear, and the bank fades out completely at G. The angle at C is noticeably obtuse. (3) The site, centred at SO 446306, is marked by an enclosure, ditched on the NW side, covering an area of approx 2.75 hectares. A hollow-way, now used as a modern road, runs through the centre of the area from NE-SW. Any evidence of occupation to the SE of this road has now been ploughed out; but to the NW platforms and hollows are visible. Surveyed at 1:2500. (4)
