Summary : A Bronze Age cairn on Dunkery Hill survives as an earthwork mound approximately 17 metres in diameter. The earthworks have been surveyed as part of the RCHME Exmoor Project and transcribed as part of the Exmoor National Mapping Programme survey. It is part of a group of 10 or more similar monuments forming a cemetery on the eastern slopes of Dunkery Hill.
More information : A large cairn lies on the eastern slope of Dunkery Hill at SS 91268 42581. It comprises a circular stony mound with a heather-covered outer rim, 17m in diameter and 1m high. In the N quadrant is a small pile of stones and a recently constructed shelter 1.8m square. This site was previously recorded as part of HOB UID 36996. The cairn was surveyed using differential GPS as part of the RCHME Exmoor Project (1).

SS 91254258. Round cairn on Dunkery Hill. Forms part of a round cairn cemetery, the centre of which lies roughly 500 metres upslope to the north west. Scheduled. (2)

This cairn has been transcribed as an earthwork from aerial photographs as part of the Exmoor National Mapping Programme survey. Centred on circa SS 91274257, the cairn is roughly circular and 17 metres in diameter. It is one of eight cairns recorded in this area as part of the NMP survey, although more are certainly present but not visible on the aerial photographs available. (3-4)
