More information : (SO 41565440) MOAT (NR). (1)
Moat, partly wet, encloses a nearly circular area about 165ft in diameter and rising slightly above the surrounding ground and with remains of a rampart. Immediately SE of the moat is a pond of irregular form. (2)
SO 416544. The earthwork at Dilwyn is possibly a ringwork. (Not visited by King and Alcock). (3)
This earthwork appears to be a ringwork with the reduced remains of an encircling bank on the north side of the featureless interior. The ditch is waterfilled on the east and south but the north side has been filled in and only a slight depression indicates its position. The irregular shaped pond to the south east does not appear to be contemporary with the work. Published survey (25") revised. (4)
[Evaluation of site prepared for the Victoria County History (a) noted that although the work is suggestive of a castle it appears rather to be that of a homestead moat]. (5)
SO 416544. Partial ringwork with wet defences. (6)
