More information : (SO 40215172) The Red Lion Hotel is listed as especially worthy of preservation. The E cross-wing of the house was built in the 14th century, but the main block has been much altered and rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. The timber-framing is mostly exposed. (1) The Red Lion is as described. Some of the windows have been altered since the RCHM photograph was taken. Smaller paned frames, more in keeping with the building, have been inserted. The whole structure is in excellent condition, but not outstanding in a village with many fine black and white houses. (2) Red Lion Hotel, Grade 2* (see list for details). (3)
