Mound and moat, probably a castle mound. The mound is roughly circular and about 47 yds in diameter at the base, rising about 24ft above the bottom of the ditch. The moat is still wet on the NW side. (2)
An earth-and-stone motte, 44.0m in diameter at the base, the flat summit, 22.0m in diameter, being 6.0m above the encircling moat.
The moat, once wet now marshy, is 11.0m in width and from 0.5m deep on the S side to 1.5m deep on the N side. It is fed by a stream entering from the NE and leaving from the SW. Published 1:2500 survey revised. (3)

The earthwork remains of the large motte described by the previous authorities was seen located at SO 4619 7291 and mapped from aerial photographs. (6)
