The tithe map for the area shows two buildings in a small enclosure, which are named as a linhay, barn and yard. The first edition OS map depicts a single building, probably the barn, in a small enclosure. Field banks associated with these buildings are visible on vertical aerial photographs and some are still marked on the OS map. |
More information : A deserted farm site at Knaphindham Rocks was mentioned by M Aston in 1977 and recorded in the Somerset SMR (1).
The tithe map for the area shows two buildings in a small enclosure, which are named as a linhay, barn and yard (2). The first edition OS map depicts a single building, probably the barn, in a small enclosure (3). The remains of the enclosure are preserved as field boundaries, shown on the current OS map (4). (2-6)
