Summary : A deserted post medieval linhay and barn at Knaphindham Rocks, Exton are recorded from documentary sources. The tithe map for the area shows two buildings in a small enclosure, which are named as a linhay, barn and yard. The first edition OS map depicts a single building, probably the barn, in a small enclosure. Field banks associated with these buildings are visible on vertical aerial photographs and some are still marked on the OS map.
More information : A deserted farm site at Knaphindham Rocks was mentioned by M Aston in 1977 and recorded in the Somerset SMR (1).

The tithe map for the area shows two buildings in a small enclosure, which are named as a linhay, barn and yard (2). The first edition OS map depicts a single building, probably the barn, in a small enclosure (3). The remains of the enclosure are preserved as field boundaries, shown on the current OS map (4). The enclosure and field banks are clearly visible on vertical aerial photographs of the area. (7)
