More information : (SO 52055241) Hampton Court on site of (NAT) Hampton Court (NR). (1)
Hampton Court. The house, then called Hampton Richard, was presumably built by Sir Roland Lenthall, who had a licence to crenellate in 1434 (a). It was modernised in the early 18th c and 'altered and restored' in the first half of the 19th c. The quadrangular plan and much of the 15th century walling have been preserved. The gatehouse, chapel and porch are the least altered parts. The east, south and west fronts have no ancient features. Grade I. (2-3)

Hampton Court. House, c.1427-36. Altered early 18thc by Colen Campbell for Lord Coningsby, with remodelling of S. front and additions to the S.E. and S.W. Further remodelling, including partial refenestration and numerous additions, with restoration, undertaken in early 19thc by Sir Jeffrey Wyatville for Richard Arkwright. 18th and 19thc illustrations suggest that the building may have a further complicated architectural history. Listed Grade I. (5)
