Summary : A small stone-built lock up with a well and pump alongside the south east of the church. Thought to be of late 18th to early 19th century date, the lock up was built as a temporary holding place for petty criminals who were being brought before the local magistrate. It survives as a roofless shell. "Pound" is noted on the 25" map of 1904.
More information : The Brompton Regis village lock-up lies to the south-east of the church at SS 95178 31441. It comprises a small roofless stone building measuring 1.7 m (internal) with walls 0.6 m thick and 2 m high. A doorway opening is on the south-east side, and a window opening is on the north-east. The ruin has been consolidated and is evidently cared for. Immediately to the west is a communal well. (4)
