Summary : A large Bronze Age burial cairn is visible as a mound and forms part of a group (SS 94 NW 15) east of Selworthy Beacon (SS 94 NW 102). The cairn measures about 18m in diameter and 0.7m high and has a central depression. A pronounced circular depression, 6.5m in diameter and 1m deep lies in the northern side; a smaller depression lies in the southern side. These may have been caused by excavation or stone robbing. This is a scheduled monument.
More information : A large cairn, part of a group east of Selworthy Beacon (SS 94 NW 15), lies at SS 92411 48026. It was surveyed using differential GPS as part of the RCHME East Exmoor project. The cairn comprises a large, circular mound, 18m in diameter and 0.7m high. It is covered in heather and gorse and contains two depressions. A pronounced circular depression, 6.5m in diameter and 1m deep lies in the northern side; a smaller depression lies in the southern side. These may have been caused by excavation or stone robbing (1).

The Bronze Age burial cairn above (1-3) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs. The cairn is centred at SS9242 4802 and is as described above (1). (2-3)
