Summary : Late 14th or early 15th century fortified pele tower and early 17th century hall, converted into a large country house during the 1680s. Alterations were also carried out in 1824-7, 1845 and 1871.
More information : [NY 4605 3577] Hutton-in-the-Forest [NAT] (1) Hutton Hall has a pele tower, 32ft x 24ft, 41ft x 1/2 ft in height, which is 14th century. The two-storied building to the south was added circa 1560-1600, and about 1605 the moat was filled in. (2-4) The pele tower is in good condition, see photograph. There are no visible remains of the moat. (5) Hutton-in-the-Forest Hall I Fortified tower with large country house extensions. Late C14 or early C15 for the Hutton family with early C17 gallery by Alexander Pogmire for Henry Fletcher. Further 1680s extensions by Edward Addison for Sir George Fletcher incorporating parts of the medieval and early C17 hall. Alterations of 1824-7 by George Webster, 1845 and 1871 by Anthony Salvin.
