More information : [NY 4501 3260] Blencow Hall [G.T.] (1)
Blencow Hall with tower probably built about the beginning of the 16th cent. in imitation of a Pele. The date stone 1590 gives the date of the building of the central block. The building at the rear thought to be a chapel probably results from a Gothic window re-used. (2-3)
The SW tower is apparently the earliest structure with a later twin added to the NE: both are derelict. The 1590 dated central block and the 16th cent. south wing are restored and occupied.
The pointed arch window surround survives in a simple one-room stone building at NY 44993262 [Chapel (LB) published on OS 25"]. There is a strong local tradition of its original use as a chapel.
