More information : (SO 80874749) Madresfield Court (NAT) Moat (NR) (1)

The date of the completion of Madresfield Court is recorded upon a
panel over the entrance bearing the initials of Sir William Lygon
and his wife Elizabeth and the date 1593. This house stands upon
the foundations of an earlier mid 15th century house, the lower
courses of which still remain in the NW and SW walls: it is entirely
surrounded by a moat. The building was occupied by both parties
in turn in the Civil War. Extensive restoration was carried out
between 1863 and 1888. On the S side of the house are two possible fish ponds. (2)

Madresfield Court as described above is a good example of a Manor House of its period and is in an excellent state of preservation being kept in good order by the owner Lord Beauchamp. The moat, which remains intact, surrounds the house and is waterfilled. To the south of the house at SO 80854741 are two non-defensive ponds which appear to be fishponds.
