More information : Public park situated to the northwest of Bolton town centre. It was designed by William Henderson and opened in 1866. The park covers an area of about 22 hectares and comprises a formal core surrounded by less formal area of woodland, grassland and lakes. Features include a sunken circular parterre and a terraced walk. Some of the original park buildings and structures including a pavilion, Chadwick Museum, a lake, bandstand and fountains have been removed. The buildings were demolished during the mid 20th century. Late 20th century additions include a bowling green and pavilion. (1) |
