Summary : Hoard of DA coins & Saxon brooch
More information : A hoard of over 700 Stycas (Eanred and Ethelred) together
with a Saxon brooch, which is now in the British Museum, were found
in the parish of Kirkoswald (NY 5941) Cumberland in 1808.

Six copper Stycas of Eanred and Ethelred were donated to the museum
of the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle in 1814. They came from
a large earthen vessel full of similar coins found beneath the roots
of a fallen tree near Kirkoswald, Cumberland, (Probably from the
above hoard.) (1-4)
