More information : [NY 504632] Earthworks [NAT] (1)
(Area centred NY 50336318) There is a reputed motte at Headswood. (2)
Immediately on the North of the Wall at Headswood are the remains of a defence work apparently formed so as to take the ditch of the Wall as its S ditch, and having faint traces of another on the North, and a low tumulus, or round mound resting on the edge of the precipice connected with it. The remains are too indistinct to speculate as to its origin. (3)
These so called earthworks (or motte) are natural precipices of the Irthing valley. (4)
