Summary : Roman road running from Manchester to Thorner.
More information : Excavations over a number of years between Castleshaw and Slack Roman forts have demonstrated that the published course is incorrect. The road turns towards the south flank of Pule Hill, its course through or around Marsden is not known, and it reappears near Upper Holme. From there, it is traceable to Moorside Edge and Rocking Stone Hill. (1)
