Summary : A fairly broad trackway or road (15m-20m wide) extending west-east for 900 metres, is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. Flanking the trackway is a field system, fragmentary to the south, but more visible on the northern side.These features are possibly Iron Age or Roman. The trackway may be heading west to junction with the north-south aligned Roman road Rudgate RR280 (LIN 247)., and east in the direction of the Roman settlement at Tadcaster.
More information : A fairly broad trackway or road (15m-20m wide) extending W-E for 900 metres (SE 4589 4446 to SE 4672 4417), is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. Flanking the trackway is a field system, fragmentary to the south, but more visible on the northern side. These features are possibly Iron Age or Roman in date. The trackway may be heading west to junction with the N-S aligned Roman road Rudgate RR280 (LIN 247)., and east towards the Roman settlement of Tadcaster.
