Summary : The Fishing Lodge on Mill Road, Cromford, stands by the ruins of the 15th century bridge chapel and was created from a earlier range of farm buildings in circa 1796. Constructed ashlar with an old stone-tiled roof, from, It was fashioned by Richard Arkwright junior to function as a dwelling for his water baliff. By the early 19th century it was in use as a workman's cottage. The building is an almost exact replica of the fishing lodge on the River Dove made famous by Isaac Walton and Charles Cotton. An inscription over the door reads "piscatoribus sarcum" - sacred to fishermen.
