`Vessel foundered and lost in wind conditions ESE force 9.' (1a)
`Having left the port of Shields with 296 tons of cargo, this brig had her sails blown away by wind conditions SE to E force 9 and heavy seas. She became unmanageable, and to prevent her going ashore was brought up off Robin Hood's Bay. The gale continued, and when there was five feet of water in the hold, the crew took to the boat and soon afterwards the vessel went down. Her loss was considered to be due to stress of weather.'
