More information : SX 61728547. Bronze Age cist situated near the summit of Whitehorse Hill. Until 2001, the western edge of the cist was visible, exposed in the side of an island of peat. Early in 2001 a drystone wall was built in front of the cist, hiding it from view. The cist is 0.3 metres deep by 0.4 metres wide and its capstone remains in its original position. Scheduled. (1)
The drystone wall noted by authority 1 is at SX 61738548. It is a 2.3m long, 0.9m high drystone wall constructed of "white" granite blocks which retains an exposed peat mound. There is no trace of a cist. (2) |
