Summary : A small moat, 40m in diameter with traces of a slight ditch. A resistivity survey of the site revealed six angular low resistivity features on the main platform surrounded by an enclosing high resistivity feature that was interpreted as an enclosing wall. To the south-west is a small earthwork which contained a circular low resistivity feature with a diameter of c.20m and a significant stoney fill in its surrounding embankment. There are also traces of possible fishponds and building platforms, the latter both internally and externally. The fact that the water system would require damming of the adjacent river to operate, and that this would also flood the ditch of the motte on the opposite bank of the river, (SO33NE16), indicates that the moat and motte formed a joint complex within the same curtilage.
