Summary : Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery ZS16 on Clapham Common. It was armed with four 4.5-inch guns in 1940, but reduced to four 3.7-inch static guns with GL Mark II radar by mid 1942. It was manned by 312 Battery of the 54th Royal Artillery Regiment in January 1940, by 318 Battery of the 99th Royal Artillery Regiment in May 1940, and by 523 Battery of the 160th (Mixed) Royal Artillery Regiment in 1943. It was retained as a Nucleus Force Headquarters Battery in 1946.
