More information : A post medieval spoil heap is visible as an earthwork on air photographs at NZ 0074 7319. It is extant on the latest 1980 Ordnance Survey vertical photography. (1) This was one of two used for the construction of the Whittington tunnel (completed 1905), parallel and slightly south of the first. The second shaft used can be seen at NZ 01820 72374 just west of Delight. (2)
