Summary : Stone quarry in the Cretaceous Chalk situated to the south of Haslingfield village, which produced clunch for building in the city of Cambridge and the surrounding area during the medieval and post medieval periods. Chalk from Haslingfield was also used for building stone for the Cambridge Colleges. The chalk pit is visible as earthworks on 2010 lidar.
More information : Stone quarry in the Cretaceous Chalk situated to the South of Haslingfield village, which produced clunch for building in the city of Cambridge and the surrounding area. Chalk from Haslingfireld ws also used for building stone for the Cambridge Colleges. (1)

The medieval/post medieval clunch pit is visible as earthworks on 2010 lidar, centred at TL 4082 5174. It is recorded as being in use since at least the 13th century and was described as 'old', suggesting disuse, by 1887. Some of the northern earthworks are denuded.
