Turret 41A, located by exploratory excavation in 1912 occurs where the ground drops to the west of Caw Gap, and the Wall ditch reappears for the space of a few yards. (2-3)

This turret had been deliberately demolished, presumably under Severus, and the Wall rebuilt across its site. Details from Miss D. Charlesworth who excavated in 1967 for Ministry of Public Buildings and Works. (5)
The turret, 501 yards from turret 41B, was excavated in 1912 and found to have a doorway on the E side of the S wall and to have been dismantled and the Wall built across it in the Severan Period (6a). The turret was consolidated by DOE in 1972-3 (MS note on OS linear map) and is 0.2m high. (6)
