Summary : A Second World War roadblock is visible as a series of structures on aerial photographs. The site comprises a wall and two lines of anti tank obstacles, probably pimples. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2).
More information : A Second World War roadblock is visible as a series of structures on aerial photographs. The site is centred on TQ 79691 08817 and comprises a a wall and two lines of anti tank obstacles, probably pimples. The wall completely blocks Undercliff, close to where it joins Marina Promenade. It appears to extend up to the extant buildings. The anti tank pimples are arranged along the curbs on the landward side of this, ready to be deployed if needed. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (1-2).
