Summary : 14th century churchyard cross in Nettlecombe churchyard, Nettlecombe Park, restored in mid 19th century. It comprises two re-chiselled square steps, an octagonal socket with bold broaches of convex outline, and a shaft 9' 7" in height, the upper part of which, including the transom is a mid 19th century addition. Remains of a 14th c. cross situated in the grounds of Nettlecombe Court and close to the church.

It consists of two re-chiselled square steps, an octagonal
socket with bold broaches of convex outline, and a shaft 9' 7"
in height, the upper part of which, including the transom, is
new. (See illustration) (2)

The cross is as described. It is in Nettlecombe churchyard and
not in the grounds of the house. See GP AO/65/66/4. (3)

GV II

Churchyard cross. C14, restored mid C19. Limestone. Square,
2-stage calvary, square socket with convex broached corners,
octagonal tapering shaft, renewed in upper part with transom
piece forming cross. C14 origins are largely obscured by
insensitive mid C19 restoration. (4)
