More information : [ST 52202289] ILCHESTER CASTLE [GT] (Site of). (1) Sandford (3) refers to a Norman Castle at Ilchester. The traditional site is on the N. bank of the river, where Ilchester Gaol once stood. Stevens Cox was unable to find any satisfactory evidence of this castle. (2) No information. (4)
