More information : (ST 52895833) Manor House (GT) (Ruin) Ruin (O.E) (1-2) The remains of a 14th century Manor House formerly owned by the Chedder family and situated 2 chains east of the Rectory, was pulled down 25 years ago during the building of the latter. (3) Collinson simply refers to a "capital mansion" at Ubley in the time of Henry VI. The Tithe Map shows a large L-shaped house at the O.S. siting, known as Waterloo House in the 19th century although acknowledged to be the manor house. There are now no remains and the published entry refers to a small outhouse and a well. (4) ST 528584. Walling, including a 15th century doorway and window, on the site of Ubley Manor House has been rediscovered in the kitchen garden east of the Old Rectory. (5)
