Medieval bridge, of two slightly pointed segmental arches, the squinch arch on the Yorkshire side having been rebuilt recently. The wall on the Barnard Castle side is carved in relief with the date 1596 and "ER" Refuges over the centre cutwaters. Said to have been actually built in 1569, and repaired in 1771 after a flood. Grade 1. (2)

The site was visited by RCHME during a survey of scheduled monuments in County Durham. No recording was carried out. (4)
