Location :

Summary : A Second World War trench is visible as an earthwork. It is defined by a sharp sided trench which measures 16m long, 1m wide and 0.7m deep and is orientated northeast/southwest. The amorphous linear mound parallel to the trench is presumably the spoil from the trench. The mound is 18m long by 5m wide. The features are thought to be associated with Second World War tank training activity (SS 94 NW 64).
More information : Centred at SS 94452 47648 is an amorphous linear mound 18 m long and 5 m wide running north-east to south-west. On its eastern side is a sharp sided trench 0.7 m deep and 1 m wide.
The feature is presumably associated with WW2 military activity on North Hill (see SS 94 NW 64).
Found during field reconnaissance and surveyed at 1:2500 scale as part of RCHME fieldwork on the Exmoor National Park holding on North Hill. (1-3)

The trench referred to above (1-2) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs. The trench is centred at SS 9445 4764 and measures about 16m in length and orientated northeast/southwest. A parallel bank of earthwork is visible to the west and is presumably the spoil from the trench. (3-4)
