More information : A gabled tombstone was found a few years before 1779 in
Bowldownfield in the parish of Lasborough.
R G Collingwood sought in vain for it at Kingscote House in 1922,
and it is now apparently lost. The translation of the inscription
reads: "To the spirits of the departed; Sulicena lived 14 (or more)
years." (Bowldown Farm ST 839925, is close to Nesley Farm where a
Roman tombstone was found circa 1846. See ST 89 SE 6). (1-2)

Bowldown: Roman coins found. (3)

Major Vernon knows nothing of either the tombstone or the coins. (4)
