Summary : The handle and upper part of a bronze jug of probable 1st or 2nd century AD Italian make was found on Roundway Hill. The makers name ASPIIR is marked on the inside of the lip. Roman coins and a bronze brooch were found in the same area.
More information : (Area centred SU 01906450) The handle and upper part of a bronze jug of probable 1st or 2nd c. Italian make was found on Roundway Hill. The makers name ASPIIR is marked on the inside of the lip. The jug now in Devizes Museum, is said to have been found with coins but there are no details of these. Also in Devizes Museum is a Ro. bronze brooch from the same area. (1)
