Summary : Rural industrial complex developed as works and boat building headquarters of the Kennet and Avon Canal Company, rebuilt after a fire in the mid 19th century. Includes warehouses and workers housing.
More information : SU 103615. Honey Street Complex. This rural
industrial complex was developed as the works and boat building
headquarters of the Kennet and Avon Canal. An inscription on a
chimney at the works records some of the site's history,
including a disastrous fire in mid 19th century and subsequent
rebuilding. Some of the warehouses have been converted to
residential use, a chemical manure works is now used for
salvaging waste and the timber yard is still in use. (1)
