Two sections of a previously unrecognised ring ditch were excavated
within the barrow group in advance of road improvements (in 1987), anda small group of apparently disarticulated human bones was recovered.
The remainder of the feature lay under the course of the existing road(cf auths (5) & (8)). A second feature several hundred yards to the
north (not sited) produced pottery indicating a probable BA date. (9)
