Summary : Court house, former court house of Overton Manor. |
More information : [SU 51354999] Court Ho. [T.I.]. (1) [Descent of the Manor of Overton traced from 909 AD]. (2) The house known as the "Court House" is traditionally the place where the courts of the Manor of Overton were held. (3) The "Court House" is now divided into two tenements. Its main (south) front seems to have been rebuilt in the 18th cent., but timber framing with Tudor bricks exposed in the N. wall shows that it incorporates work of the 16th cent. The diapered brickwork and large external chimney of the W. side probably date from the 17th cent. (4) Description of 8.10.56 still correct. Not an outstanding example of its period. (5) Grade II.
