More information : Rescue excavations from 1987 to 1988 at Pallett Hill Quarry revealed a Roman field system with Anglian settlement. The latter comprised a Grubenhaus measuring 4.1 by 2.6 m wide, with a number of pits, one a rubbish pit contemporary with the Grubenhaus. On the basis of pottery finds from the house and pit, the settlement can be dated to the 6th century. (1-2) |
