St Mary's Priory, Grosmont, was founded circa 1204 as an alien priory of the Grandmontine order. It appears to have become denizen circa 1394-5 and was dissolved circa 1536. (2)

Foundations of Grosmont Priory church are still visible. Some of the other buildings, extending westward from the church, have been converted into a farm house and offices. (3)

A mansion in the forest of Egton at Grosmont with 200 acres of land around the house was given to the order of Grandmont about 1200 by Joan Fossard. In 1294 the church of St Mary is mentioned, and in 1360 a papal petition records that most of the priory had been destroyed by fire. A survey made of the priory at the time of the suppression
gives details of the buildings (see plan). A few worked stones are all that remain. (4 - 5)

No visible remains. (6)
