Summary : The site of Saintlowe Tower at Kenilworth Castle. The tower is situated to the south end of the Great Hall and is named after Sir Walter Scott's fictitious Norman founder of the castle. The ground floor was a cellar used to supply wine to the high end of the Great Hall. The first floor forms a gallery with large windows and fitted seats with views to the Great Mere and Chase, and once led to the great chamber and state apartments. The second floor originally provided lodgings, possibly for the chamberlain in charge of the apartments and private chambers. Below were further lodgings, possibly for the clerk of the wardrobe.
