Summary : Site of a 17th century building which incorporated parts of an earlier, possibly fortified, house. The later house comprised a stone-built central block with a porch and three storey cross wings. The porch was rebuilt circa 1835 and a coat of arms added, possibly taken from the demolished gatehouse. The house itself was demolished in 1944. |
More information : [SK 00169782] Hollingworth Hall [G.T.] (1) Hollingworth Hall is a C17th building but parts of the interior are of much earlier date. The present owner had the gatehouse taken down, and all that remains is the archway, the coat of arms and, perhaps some of the stone worked up and used in the erection of the present porch. [Photo. of present gateway as described]. (2) Hollingworth Hall has been demolished. (3)
