Perambulation revealed no surface indication of desertion. (3)

Casthorpe, mentioned in Domesday, is a lost village assessed as East
and West Casthorpe in the Subsidy Rolls of the early C14th (4).

`Casthorpe', consisting of four buildings, is shown on 1st Edition 1"
in the position now occupied by Casthorpe Lodge (5) SK 86973565. (5)

There were no Medieval settlement remains visible, on the available
air photographs, in the area referred to by the previous authorities.
