Site of Eleanor Cross.
More information :
Queen Eleanor died at Harby in 1290. The first of the
Eleanor Crosses marking the stages of her funeral cortege, was
erected outside Bargate. By 1595 it had gone. (1)
[SK 9714 6935] Site of Qn. Eleanors Cross. (2)
Within the passage of Lincoln Castle gateway (SK 97 SE 25) is a
piece of a Sculptured female figure, all that is left of the
Eleanor Cross. (3)
The Site is now a main road junction. The remains are as noted -
