Surviving wall plaster features petalled flowers and fragments of lettering. An Iron Age brooch and pottery described as Anglo-Saxon and a Saxon spear have also been found. A Roman occupation site discovered at Greetwell in 1884 [not 1893
as published]. Excavations have revealed several periods of
occupation from the late 1st/early 2nd to late 3rd/early 4th century,
the recorded mosaics and structural remains probably overlying an
earlier, smaller house.

Finds include ["D"]hypocaust [at SK 9959 7145]
["E"]corridor pavement,[SK 9955 7161]
["F"]water channels, centred [SK 9937 7151]
An interesting find was an Anglo-Saxon biconical pot in rough hard
grey ware, hand-made but well turned as if under Romano-British
influence.

An IA (Halstatt) boat-shaped fibula from Greetwell is in Lincoln
Museum. (2-9)

A large quantity of the material is in Lincoln Museum, including
the IA brooch. The villa was discovered in 1884.

The area is now built over. (10)
