More information : (SP 43041554) High Lodge (NR) (1) Rebuilt by Lancelot Brown. (No information available as to the origin of its structure). Grade I. (2) High Lodge was the residence of the Ranger of Woodstock Park - one of the most distinguished of whom was John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, temp. Charles II. It was rebuilt by Lancelot Brown in castellated style in 1750. No outstanding. See G.P. (3) High Lodge, 1 mile E of the palace, was rebuilt in Gothic style, probably by Capability Brown, c. 1768. It has an embattled central tower with a bay-window. Prints of its predecessor show a square house with a hipped roof. (4)
