More information : The priory of Newstead by Stamford, Lincs, was originally founded as a hospital towards the end of the 12th century, and was changed into a house of Augustinian Canons in or before 1226. (1)
Newstead Priory was situated on the River Gwash about half way between Stamford and Uffington and near to the present water mill.(2)
There are no surface traces of this establishment in the vicinity if Newstead Mill. (TF 046078). (3)
