More information : [TF 391637] A battery of kilns, working in the 15th and 16th centuries and perhaps continuing into the 17th cent., was identified by Mrs E.H Rudkin in 1955. Sherds of Stamford ware, unstratified, were found during work on the kilns. [TF 395634] A kiln with five or six flues, of c 1300 A.D., was located in the field called 'The Roses` and excavated in 1958-9 by E.H Rudkin and H Whitaker. Jugs, tiles, water pipes and varieties of domestic pots are represented. (1-8) (11-12)

TF 39466341 'Roses` kilns and pottery, c. 1270 - 1350. Mrs. Rudkin is at present excavating this site and has a considerable collection of material from it, including Stamford ware which was found in material used for levelling the floor. See GPs AO/64/47/1-8. (9-10)
