Summary : A possible Medieval shrunken village has been recorded at Yearnor Farm. The tithe map of 1841 shows it as a much larger settlement and it is thought to have been a manor at the time of King John. A series of banks were noted on aerial photographs.

SS 847476. Yearnor is shown as a much larger settlement on the 1841 tithe map (a) with holdings called Stowey, Ridlers and Clayers. It was clearly a small hamlet which has since decayed. (2).

Yearnor was a manor at the time of King John, and was afforested by
him. (3)

A series of banks were noted on aerial photographs. (4-6)

The medieval shrunken village recorded above (1-3) is not clearly visible on aerial photographs although there are some anomalous earthwork features to the south of the Yearnor Farm, centred SS 8478 4760. It is unclear where the series of banks referred to above (4-6) are located. (7-8)
