Summary : A possible medieval moat, cut by a fishpond, the latter probably 18th century.

fishponds, probably 18th century.

A homestead moat on the N of the River Cam or Granta and fed by
it. It measures overall 65.0m N-S by 60.0m transversely. The
moat, averaging 9.0m in width and 0.5m deep, is water filled
from the river through a sluice at the SE angle and has a piped
outfall at the NE corner. There is no trace of access to the
island, which is covered by mature trees and scrub. There is no
evidence of occupation but a rectangular fishpond has been cut
through the interior.
